Think outside the rectangle

I have always considered myself an artist and dabbled in every medium out there. I graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.

The feeling of flow when creating art is the ONLY reason I was interested in college. I haven’t picked up a paintbrush, sculpted or even sat down to sketch in years but I feel like I’ve finally found my medium on the yoga mat.

My personal practice is for me an art. It’s the way I get into the flow and time ceases to exist. Worries and fears fall away as I enjoy my breath; the process unfolds and folds. The asanas connect much like brushstrokes on a canvas. My mat is my canvas.

Today I was feeling stuck and maybe even bored, yes bored with my practice. I slid my mat next to my husband’s who is usually there practicing next to me and my canvas got bigger. My brush strokes less confined and the flow became limitless. Anything is possible if we can think outside the box or in this case the mat.

Here’s what flowed through me. I hope you enjoy and take what you like.

Thank you Amy! I wonder how many of us feel our art form began as one thing and ended up on the mat?
It is so evident in what you share of your thinking and you asana flow that you have found your, “ART”.
    Blessings to you, Debra
